The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants from all areas of mechanical engineering are sought. Areas of interest may include biomechanics, biotransport, flexible devices, wearables, and surgical robotics.
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent and demonstrate their potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment. We encourage female and underrepresented candidates to apply. The appointment commences Fall 2022.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at UT Dallas was founded in 2008, offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees, and, according to US News and World Report, is ranked 3rd in Texas in its field. The department is home to more than 1100 undergraduate students, 200 graduate students, and 34 faculty. Our faculty are highly decorated with six

MCAawardee. The department is primarily housed in a new building with 200,000 square feet for teaching and research, opened in Fall 2019, and home to a unique boundary layer and subsonic wind tunnel (
BLAST) to support renewable energy research. The close proximity to the UT Southwestern Medical Center and joint graduate programs offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research.
