U21三分钟论文演讲比赛今年将继续举办，现将有关情况及我校参赛工作安排通知如下：
关于U21三分钟论文演讲比赛
该比赛由昆士兰大学于2008年创办，旨在促进博士生在学术、演讲、研究交流方面的技术与技巧提升。该比赛要求参赛者在3分钟时间内向无相关专业背景知识的听众讲述其博士论文研究课题的意义。
该项目不仅能让参赛学生从中获益，也使U21成员学校有机会在整个联盟中展示他们学生的风采和科研项目，并有助于在各校的研究人员间建立沟通渠道，开拓合作空间。
2018三分钟论文演讲比赛时间安排
·2018年9月3日前，扫描本通知底部二维码（尚未制作），或登录https://tongqu.me/act/17887完成预报名；
·2018年9月10日前，自行准备、练习演讲；
·2018年9月10-14日，校内初选暨校内培训；
·2018年9月17-21日，校内演习暨校内培训；
·2018年9月24-28日，校内统一组织录像并最终遴选；
·2018年10月5日前，完成在线视频提交；
·2018年10月8-22日，视频在线公开并投票选举
·2018年10月31日，组委会公布优胜者
参赛人资格说明：
参赛人须为上海交大在读博士生，并且须在首次演讲前已进入博士论文工作阶段，即已完成博士论文开题但尚未完成博士学位论文答辩的博士研究生。已经毕业的博士生不可以参加此比赛。
视频提交要求：
·演讲时间严格限定在3分钟之内；超过三分钟，视为不合格。
·允许使用单张静态幻灯片（无幻灯片切换，动画或任何动态效果）。幻灯片可连续可见；或分段切入，但总时长不可超过一分钟。
·视频可在三分钟演讲活动现场录制，也可选择特定地点录制。但镜头须在一个静止的位置进行拍摄，可有镜头的放大和缩小。
·三分钟音频必须连续录制，不可编辑、中断。
·不可出现附加道具。（如：服装，乐器，实验室设备，动画背景等）
·演讲需以白话进行，不可出现诗句，说唱，或演唱等其他语言形式。
·当演讲者通过动作或语言开始演讲时即开始计时。
·视频中不允许有其他的电子媒体素材。
·评审委员会的决定将为最终结果。

Notice on the 3 Minutes Thesis Competition
About three Minutes Thesis Competition
First developed by the University of Queensland in 2008, the Three Minute Thesis competition (3MT®) challenges research students to communicate the significance of their projects to audiences in just three minutes. 3MT provides research students with the opportunity to develop their academic, presentation, and research communication skills by explaining their research to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.
Not only will students benefit from this experience, but members have the opportunity to showcase their research and researchers throughout the network, as well as open doors to new collaborations and networks for both researchers and supervisors.
Timeline for the 2017 competition
·3 September 2018: Deadline of Pre-registration to SJTU (registration website：please login tohttps://tongqu.me/act/17887, or scan the QR code in the end of the notice for your registration).
·3-9September 2018: Time for preparation and practice.
·10-14 September 2018: Internal competition and training
·17-21 September 2018: Internal rehearsal and training
·24-28September 2018: Filming of videos
·5 October 2018: Video submission deadline
·8 October 2018: Videos online and open the People’s Choice Vote
·22 October 2018: People’s Choice Closes
·31 October 2018: Winners announced
Eligibility
Active Doctoral candidates of SJTU who have successfully passed their dissertation proposal by the date of their first presentation (including thesis under submission) are eligible to participate in the U21 3MT competition. Graduates are not eligible.
Rules for video submission to U21 final
·Presentations are limited to 3 minutes and competitors exceeding 3 minutes are disqualified.
·A single static slide is permitted (no slide transitions, animations or 'movement' of any description). This can be visible continuously, or ‘cut to’ (as many times as you like) for a maximum of 1 minute.
·The video can be filmed from a live 3MT event or a specific set, but must have only one camera angle filmed from a static position. Zoom in and out from the static position is acceptable.
·The 3 minute audio must be continuous – no edits, breaks etc.
·No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment, animated backgrounds) are permitted.
·Presentations are to be spoken word (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).
·Presentations are considered to have commenced when a presenter starts their presentation through movement or speech (timing does not include the student's title slide).
·No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted within the video recording.
·The decision of the adjudicating panel is final.
