The Undergraduate Dual Degree (Finance & Financial Technology) Programme is the first in-depth cooperation between Chinese mainland and Hong Kong universities to establish a complete undergraduate dual-degree program.
The programme is jointly cultivated by the Faculty of Engineering (Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Antai College of Economics and Management (SJTU-BOC Institute of Technology and Finance) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The programme aims to cultivate innovative high-end financial technology professionals for the financial and technology industries. These professionals will have a solid foundation in economic and financial theory, grasp the underlying logic of economic and financial analysis and engineering thinking, and possess excellent data modeling and data analysis capabilities, with a sense of social responsibility and an international perspective.
The dual degree in Fin-Tech & Finance is structured as a "2+2" programme, with the 1st and 4th academic years spent at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the 2nd and 3rd academic years at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
A collaborative admissions committee is established to develop and implement shared admission criteria and processes. The enrollment scale is 30 students maximum per cohort, of which The Chinese University of Hong Kong enrolls 15 students maximum, including students from Hong Kong, Macao, and international students; Shanghai Jiao Tong University enrolls 15 students maximum, all of whom are from Chinese mainland.
The programme adheres to a comprehensive curriculum. Both parties establish a curriculum management committee responsible for academic quality control, curriculum setting, training approval, and other academic content. The curriculum integrates the curriculum standards of both degrees and fully integrates them, not only consolidating the basic theories and methods of both disciplines but also strengthening the internal logic of the courses and practical training.
Upon successful completion of the programme and fulfillment of the degree requirements from both institutions, students will be conferred a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Financial Technology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as an undergraduate diploma (Finance major) and a Bachelor of Economics degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
During the period of pursuing a dual degree, students pay tuition fees to their original institution according to the tuition fee standards of the original institution.
- Fully integrate the advantageous resources of both regions, form strong alliances, and jointly cultivate high-end talents with potential in financial technology to achieve mutual empowerment of technology and finance.
- The curriculum design focuses on interdisciplinary integration, fully supporting the new development pattern in the digital economy era.
- Diversified learning and innovation spaces, integration of multiculturalism, expansion of international horizons, and demonstration of Chinese wisdom.
