From May 31 to June 3, Yang Zhenbin, Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a delegation to visit Norway, Finland, and Bulgaria. Dean Fu Shixiao and Associate Dean Gao Zhen of the School of Ocean and Civil Engineering accompanied the delegation on the visits to Norway and Finland to enhance international cooperation and strengthen connections with alumni overseas.

On June 1, the inaugural meeting of the SJTU Alumni Association of Norway was held in Trondheim. Yang Zhenbin met with nearly 30 alumni from Norway to strengthen bonds and discuss future development. Chen Qiang, an alumnus from the School, was appointed as the president, while Jiao Linlin and Yu Zhaolong, also alumni, were appointed as secretaries. Fu Shixiao introduced the School's development in terms of discipline construction, faculty, talent cultivation, and scientific research. Ye Naiquan, an alumnus from the Class of 1992 (undergraduate) and 1998 (master's), and Shao Yanlin, an alumnus from the Class of 2006 (master's), shared their experiences at the university and their growth abroad. They encouraged younger alumni to be pragmatic and strive for excellence in their new roles.

On June 2, the delegation visited the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. They had in - depth talks with President Tor Grande on student exchange and research cooperation. The school and the Faculty of Engineering of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology signed an agreement to establish a Joint Research Center for Ocean Engineering. Based on their long - term cooperation, they will further deepen collaboration in offshore oil and gas facilities, marine renewable energy equipment, green shipping, polar engineering, and aquaculture facilities. Accompanied by Professor Ye Naiquan, an alumnus, the delegation also visited the Norwegian Marine Technology Centre to gain insights into Norway's cutting - edge marine engineering technologies.

On June 3, Fu Shixiao and Gao Zhen visited Aalto University in Finland for detailed discussions on research cooperation.

This Nordic trip has strengthened ties with partners like the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, opened up new cooperation opportunities with top Nordic institutions, and enhanced connections with overseas alumni, injecting new vitality into the school's international development.
