Founded in 1896, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is one of the three oldest Chinese universities and consistently ranked top five in the nation. SJTU’s thousands of illustrious graduates over the century plus since its founding include Prof. Qian Xuesen, the father of Chinese rocketry, and Jiang Zemin, President of the People’s Republic of China in the 1990s.

The Antai College has long been a leader in SJTU’s overall development, and in Chinese business education overall. For decades, China’s Ministry of Education has consistently evaluated the College as a top business school in China. In 2006, we held our first International Business School Shanghai Conference, which has become the regional leader for gatherings of business school deans and directors.

In 2011, we became the first business school in China to be accredited by all three of the world’s most authoritative business school accreditation entities: AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. And our international stature has only grown. Our four core programs – Master in Management (MIM), MBA, EMBA and Executive Education – are all ranked in the Financial Times’ top 60 in the world. Moreover, we are the only business school in China’s Ministry of Education System to be listed in the top 100 MBA programs of QS’ MBA Rankings 2020 and 2021.

As a leading academic institution in China, we attract the best of both faculty (178 at year-end 2020) and students (about 4,500). About 95% of our faculty hold PhDs, with more than 40% from overseas institutions.

Along with multiple research centers, we host six full research institutes, of which one, the Institute for Industry Research, is our most recent and most pioneering, not only rapidly developing and strengthening our academic-industry collaborations, but also realigning major portions of our College to become even more relevant to business and broader society. Accordingly, we have redesigned our faculty evaluation system, to enhance our overall ability to achieve this relevance.

We have dozens of academic partnerships with renowned academic institutions around the world, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Southern California, the University of British Columbia and the University of Manchester. We also launched our Asia-Pacific Center in Singapore in 2018.
