PhD thesis defenses by Bin Xu and Yang Gongji were held on May 28th2018, in SMSE B314, Minhang Campus of SJTU. The defense committee was chaired by Prof. Shen Yao, and included Prof. Wen Mao, Prof. Li Jinfu, Prof. Yang Yang(from East China Normal University), and associate Prof. Guo Haibo (from Shanghai University). Li Jun served as the secretary of the defense committee.
In the personal statement session, Xu Bin and Yang Gongji presented their Ph. D work sequentially, including research background, research methods, results and discussion, novelty of PhD dissertation, etc. In the defense session, theyanswered the questions raised by thedefense committee.
After discussion, the defense committee agreed that both defenses were passed，and recommended the Ph. D degree in Engineering toXu Bin and Yang Gongji.
